Japanese tank destroyers Type 2 Gun Tank Ho-I

Type 2 Gun Tank Ho-I was another attempt to adapt the Type 97 Chi-Ha to another role. Gun Tank class was created by Japanese Army. It was a medium tank armed with a howitzer.  The concept was similar to German Pz Kpwf IV armed with 75 mm KwK L/24. The Type 2 Ho-I was armed with a Tyoe 99 75mm tank gun and a single 7.7 machine gun. The 75mm was short barreled and mounted in a fully traverse turret. However, the project had a low priority and the production began only in 1944 and only 31 were built. During 1942 the parameters  on Type 2 were changed to fight against M4 Sherman and M3 Stuart. The 75mm gun equipped AP shells. The 31 Type 2 Ho-I were allocated to the Japanese main land to defend against the Allied invasion.
